Incumbent President of Ukraine bought the above-mentioned shares back in 1993.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko turned out to be a shareholder of “Prominvestbank” (PIB), which is 99.77% owned by the State Development Corporation Vnesheconombank of the Russian Federation (VEB.RF).
VEB.RF acts on the basis of a special federal law of Russia “On the state development corporation VEB.RF” with Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev acting as its Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
According to the declaration for 2017, Petro Poroshenko owns 99 PIB shares with a nominal value of UAH 990. According to dubinski.pro website, Mr. Poroshenko acquired these shares on July 27, 1993.
The PIB, like its maternal VEB structure, is under US and EU international sanctions, which were imposed with regard to the annexation of the Crimea and Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
Moreover, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine sanctions apply to PIB, which were enacted by a presidential decree of March 15, 2017, and extended by a presidential decree of March 6, 2018, for another year.
